Penally is located right on the coastal path running from Tenby to Lydstep and is the perfect base to explore this small part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. You can access the beach just past Penally train station via the sand dunes, then head right towards Giltar Point where you can join the coastal path and head towards Lydstep – it’s the best place to take in the views of Caldey Island.
Just off the coastal path you’ll find WW1 practice trenches. These trenches were built between 1914 and 1918 where they trained soldiers ready to be sent to war. The trenches are still visible today and are a reminder of the sacrifices that were made.
