Vineyards in Wales! Who’d have thought?

Believe it or not there are several vineyards in Wales and two of the finest are right on our doorstep.

Velfrey Vineyard

Located in Whitland, Velfrey Vineyard was established in 2016. It occupies a gentle south facing slope in the south Pembrokeshire countryside. Over 4,250 vines are planted across nearly 3 acres, in clay loam. Clay loam is a soil type which is found in some of the world's most prestigious wine growing regions. Guided tours, wine tastings with, or without, a selection of Welsh cheese and charcuterie are all available.

Hebron Vineyard

Hebron Vineyard was planted by Jemma Vickers and Paul Rolt in 2010. Hebron is an organically run regenerative vineyard offering authentic natural wine. The vines are grown using regenerative viticulture and agroforestry practices and are maintained by hand from prune to training to harvest.

Arbustra is the art of growing vines using a living trellis. Pliny believed that vines grown on living trellises produced the finest wines.

Owners Jemma and Paul state - “We want our grapes to taste of their vines natural experience here in the soils and climate of West Wales not of any additions we have made to it or to them” “Tour, Tasting and Tapas” - available for groups large and small. Their all-natural wines are available in the gift shop and online.
