Beaches in Pembrokeshire

Beaches in Pembrokeshire

We are truly spoilt for choice with beautiful beaches here in Pembrokeshire, whether you’re looking for the perfect paddleboarding spot, a place to hit the waves or a hidden gem with spectacular views there is something for everyone. We asked the whole team at Puffin Cottage Holidays which Pembrokeshire beach was their favourite and why.

Coppet Hall

Andy and Vicki love spending their time at Coppet Hall beach, it’s easy to access, has plenty of parking and boasts fantastic facilities. There are toilets, changing rooms, a cafe, paddleboarding hire and even a little shop if you forget your swimmers. You’ll often find them with friends and family having a BBQ and enjoying some paddleboarding, the bay itself is protected from most wind directions so it’s the perfect spot and even with high tide there is plenty of sand left for you to enjoy your day.

West Angle Bay

Tyler’s favourite beach is West Angle Bay, it’s a rocky haven perfect for exploring the rock pools with little ones. Tyler spends most of her summer with her family there and loves nothing more than finishing the day off with a BBQ and an ice cream from Wavecrest. There is plenty of parking, toilets and a great café, it’s also easy to access the footpath for some coastal exploring.

St Govan’s Bay

Mai’s favourite Pembrokeshire beach is St Govan’s Bay, she loves it as its peaceful and tends to be much quieter away from the hustle and bustle. There’s parking on the headland’s where you can follow the stony path down to the secluded beach, it’s the ideal place for peace and quiet whilst taking in the views.

St Brides Haven

Anna’s favourite beach is St Brides Haven, it’s a sheltered, rocky beach perfect for exploring rock pools with little ones. There is parking and toilets so you can stay and enjoy the beach all day if the weather permits.

Broadhaven South

Fiona loves spending time at Broadhaven South Beach, it’s backed by sandy dunes and the perfect spot for taking to dogs for a walk. You can either park at the beach car park and head down the steps to the beach or you can park at Bosheston Lilyponds where you can enjoy a longer walk taking in the Pembrokeshire scenery.

Church Doors Cove, Skrinkle

If you’re like Emma and would prefer a walk on the headland’s rather than a beach day, then Church Doors Cove is the place for you. Enjoy a headland walk on the coastal path via Skrinkle Haven then take the steep steps down and through ‘church doors’ to enjoy this quiet, secluded beach. Take extra care on the steep ravine and make sure you check the tides as the beach is not accessible during high tide.

North Beach, Tenby

Rob likes to get a coffee in the morning and take a walk along Tenby’s North Beach. The zig zag walkway leads right down to the beach where you can walk across to the harbour. North Beach is a wide, sandy beach with toilets, water sports and a café in the summer season making it the perfect spot to enjoy that beach day.

Solva Harbour and Beach

Helen spends most of her time on the water on her paddleboard, her favourite spot for paddle boarding is Solva where you could paddle across to Newgale if you wanted to. At low tide the harbour is empty but there’s a stream where you can enjoy crabbing and a spot of fishing. The shallow beach makes it a great place for children to explore.

Freshwater West

Sheryle’s favourite beach in Pembrokeshire is Freshwater West, it’s a wide sandy, pebble beach which is popular for dog walking and the ideal surf spot. There is parking and toilets available, and you may even find Dobby’s grave (if you’re a Harry Potter fan!).

Barafundle Bay

Kirsty’s favourite spot is Barafundle Bay, it’s probably Pembrokeshire’s worst kept secret! To access Barafundle Bay you need to walk across the headlands at Stackpole Quay, the terrain can be rocky and uneven and there is a steep decline to get to the beach itself but it is definitely worth it to see this hidden gem!
